Our Mission

Our mission to heal the world, or as much of it as we possibly can. I've created a unique form of treatment called Radical Accountability Theory (RAT) which integrates several therapeutic treatment modalities which I find to be a more effective than traditional methods. If you would like to learn more, please check out my thesis on how we can heal the world.

PTSD occurs when the brain is unable to process an event or series of small events and becomes stuck in a "fight or flight" response. Although the event is over, the brain doesn't register that the threat is gone and remains in a hyperaroused state. The inability of the brain to "turn itself off" results in a significant amount of distress which dramatically impacts all aspects of life.

The EMDR and Counseling Center understands that facing your trauma is incredibly difficult and will provide a safe environment to share your story as well as guide you through the healing process.

Anxiety disorders are the most common mental disorder in the U.S. affecting almost 20% of the adult population every year according to the Anxiety and Depression Association. Despite its common status in American life, anxiety disorders are paralyzing and debilitating and can result in long-term physical health problems.

You don't need to live with anxiety. The American Psychological Association says that most people improve signficantly within 8-10 therapy sessions. Let us help you build the skills to manage your anxiety and resolve it at its deepest level.

Depression is typically characterized by feelings of sadness, emptiness, worthlessness, hopelessness, and helplessness, loss of interest in activities, and/or increased irritability among other negative symptoms.

Depression is one of the most treatable disorders with 80-90% of people responding to treatment and gaining relief from their symptoms. Using RAT and other techniques, the EMDR and Counseling Center will help you feel motivated and fulfilled again.

Developing insecurity is a natural part of human development. To be nurtured as a child is a biological need necessary for survival. Due to our biological need for positive social interaction, it's natural that we seek approval from others and develop insecurities when we don't receive approval. Our deepest insecurities that develop in our formative years are called "core negative beliefs" and the average person carries these negative beliefs for their entire lives without realizing it. Core negative beliefs are emotionally driven and typically supersede logic which may account for why they often go unnoticed.

Fortunately, you have the power to identify and change these subconscious beliefs. The EMDR and Counseling Center will guide you through the process and help you become the self-assured and confident person you want to be.

Phobias

Phobias are irrational fears that cause an overreaction to the feared stimulus. Phobias can include all types of things such as fear of needles, spiders, open water, heights, confined spaces, crowds, etc.

RAT can help you move past your phobias and experience reduced symptoms, or even an elimination of symptoms, related to your phobia. Let the EMDR and Counseling Center help you work through your phobias so you no longer need to be controlled by them.
