Past Life Regression

What Is It/ How Does It Work?

Past life regression is a spiritual healing modality with theoretical underpinnings rooted in reincarnation. Past life regression assumes that we reincarnate and that it's possible to carry past life trauma into our current lifetime. Healing occurs by "reliving" the past lifetime in which the trauma occurred, which then allows the trauma to be released. Past life regression can also be used for non-trauma-related benefits such as gaining insight, releasing anger/fear, and other mental health benefits. The University of Virginia (UVA) has been researching past lives for years by investigating kids who claim to have past life knowledge and has concluded that the idea has scientific merit because the kid's stories have been historically verified despite the fact that they shouldn't know the information they do. You can check out more on that here if interested.

You can either do past life regression with a specific issue or issues you want to work on or you can go into the experience with an open-minded mentality of seeing what comes up. One of the principles of past life regression is that you will get what you need in the way that you need it, not necessarily what you want or how you want it to happen. Try to come to a session with an open mind without preconceived notions about what will happen during the session so that you can get maximum benefit from the experience.

There are a few other things to keep in mind. First, not everyone experiences past lifetimes during past life regression. Sometimes past life regression involves your current lifetime or is more metaphorical in nature. You can still gain benefits even if you don't enter into a past lifetime. As stated earlier, you will get what you need. Second, you don't need to believe in past lives in order to try past life regression. I certainly didn't believe in it when I tried it and it worked regardless. Third, you don't need to believe it's past lifetimes that you experience. Even if you come to the conclusion that what you experienced is your brain working through metaphors and is a testament to the creativity of the brain, that's great! It doesn't matter why it benefits you as long as it does. Fourth, past life regression isn't a competition between spirituality and science. If you go into the experience trying to prove it doesn't work, then you are trying it for the wrong reasons and may not benefit from it.

What Does A Session Look Like?

Past life regression is performed through guided visualization, similar to what you might experience in a guided meditation, and can be done in one of two ways. The first approach will take you through three distinct past lifetimes in which we explore three major events in that lifetime along with your death. From the experience(s), you should gain relief or lessons that can be applied to your current life. The second approach explores one past lifetime and then attempts to access your subconscious to gain additional benefit and insight. Both approaches have similar benefits. The session is done with the client laying down on a massage table and both types of regression take about two hours to get through.

What Results Have People Had?

Results vary greatly as this operates under a completely different rational than other techniques. My personal experiences with it have resulted in insight, emotional relief, and a lot of existential questions about the nature of reality. Most of my clients who have done this have left with the same.
